Wooden Spool Christmas Ornament ~ Perforated Paper for Embroidery

I was gifted a bag full of wooden spools that belonged to my mother, and wanted to make something with them.  If you are lucky to have antique wooden spools (about 1 inch tall), this pattern is my favorite so far.  You can also purchase wooden spools at most craft stores, if you do not have antique wooden spools to use.

To make these, you will need to know how to sew yo-yo's using fabric and thread.

Magnetic Clipboard with Note Pad and Pen

I had been gifted with a box of fabric scraps from a few people who sew often.  I decided to create these fun magnetic clipboards.   If you are raising a family, you might be finding it difficult to keep a pen in one place for notes.  I found this works pretty good.  You can add a string to make sure pen and clipboard don't get separated as well.  I tied another scrap of fabric to the top for additional decoration.

Cup/Mug Coasters ~ Canning Lids and Screw Bands

I noticed that many of my canning screw bands needed replaced.  After so many years of canning, they started to rust and bend.  I decided to recycle some into cup coasters.

Muffin Tin Center Piece ~ Candle Holder

We were once again spring cleaning, and came across this old muffin tin.  We recycled it into a center piece with candles.

I simply spray painted it red (simply what we had on hand), and let it dry.  I placed a candle in each muffin cup, and used it for a center piece.

You could spray paint these in any color combination, and possibly add painted embellishments.  You could also create a speckled look by using a white paint and brush to splatter over a darker base coast.

If you have leftover red spray paint, you may also like:
