Recycling Old T-Shirts ~ Shaggy Dog Rug

Book: Alternacrafts, by Jessica Vitkus
Craft: Shaggy Dog Rug

If you have not seen this book, and you like to recycle items into new items, you may want to.  It's full of fun and useful things to make.  For example, the Shaggy Dog Rug is made from burlap and strips cut from old t-shirts.  If you are spring cleaning, and have lots of t-shirts, consider this project.

The directions are pretty simple in this book, and guide you along.  You start by knotting pieces to create the edge.  If you do not want to purchase the book, but want the instructions for this project, check for it at your local library.

These would make fun rugs for the home or for cat beds too.  This is a perfect craft to have on hand for bad weather days, or for kids needing a boredom buster.
